復古紀念夾克起源於二戰後不久的日本佔領區。在太平洋戰區服役的美國士兵委託工匠製作這些精美的手工刺繡夾克，作為他們海外旅行和作戰時光的紀念品。紀念夾克在朝鮮戰爭（1950-1953）期間及之後達到了其歷史上的鼎盛時期。韓戰結束後，紀念夾克在日本和韓國等地都越來越受歡迎。冷戰期間，為了滿足需求，世界各地的美軍基地商店從亞洲進口紀念夾克，並在其售貨亭出售。這些復古紀念夾克以“當地地圖”為特色，並融合了一些流行的亞洲圖案。隨著時間的推移，更多獨特的定製圖案也隨之出現。
