在美國空軍諸多飛行夾克裡，過去曾有多種款式，其中最著名的絕對是屬於MA-1，在1950年代朝鮮戰爭和1960年代越南戰爭都曾長期服役，而本款CWU-45/P則是它的後繼型號。


本款為 WAIPER 復刻的一代目，CWU-36P (早期型號) 1980，適用於光照區溫度範圍（30℃至-10℃）從那時起，經過一些細微的修改，其中一些至今仍在使用。

 

後來它也被海軍（海軍陸戰隊）和陸軍的部分部隊採用。
